Coconut tree and memories

Last week the old coconut tree in our home had to be cut. It took all of 4 hours to bring down the ~65 year old, 40' tall tree. On one hand, I was feeling very sad at losing something that had almost been taken for granted and on the other, had to worry about more realistic things; how long should the 'logs' be? In which direction should it be pulled down? Would it fall on our roof tiles...
Ours is an old house, right in the middle of 'old' Bangalore. (Wait for another blog on how Banglaore has grown, no, moved in a south easterner direction
